I really hope this game doesn't adopt dialog wheels for everything. |

This is no laughing matter. Changing conversations to a crappy dialog wheel is a pretty huge blow. |

As someone who isn't that into Fallout, that looks very bulky and cumbersome. Do they have one for the right arm? |

So, an Imgur member sent Bethesda all the bottlecaps he'd collected since Fallout 3 came out: http://imgur.com/gallery/tYZPO He got back a response today, where they promised that he'll be getting a copy of the game when it comes out in November: http://imgur.com/gallery/KlqPB |

It's like they don't understand what make Fallout or western RPGs fun. If I want to get railroaded into a story, I'll play Final Fantasy. I play WRPGs for the exploration. |

I just heard today that those big Pipboys are actually just iPhone cases. And pretty much every iPhone is a different size because Apple likes to fuck over people who can't buy a phone every six months, so it probably only works with their newest one. Joy. |

Yeah, the Pipboys that come with the CE are intended to mount smartphones and can apparently use a specialized app to link up with your copy of the game and act like a status menu just like the in-game Pipboy does. In fact, that's generally what every fan-made Pipboy prop has done (unless they settle for having a non-interactive screen instead). If it had the electronics to perform that same function installed by default, the price would skyrocket. |

Didn't we have a thread for Fallout 4 already? Either way, I like the character creator a lot. I'm so done with fucking around with sliders. My last attempt to play Dark Souls hammered that home to me. I think the other decisions they are making are fucking retarded though. Especially the stupid dialouge wheel. Every damn response will just be able to be obviously distilled down to "Good reply", "Evil reply", "Unbearable Snark", and "..." |

It's fucking BORING. (Note, not directing this anger at you, but in general) I can't stand silent protagonists. This is what I disliked from most early JRPGs, Xenoverse, and any game really. It's hard to really care for the story when the main protagonists doesn't even reply to the people talking to him. |

I can understand that, but I've always felt in Western RPGs it was supposed to be more of a personal immersion in the game. Which is usually what happens to me. |

You do reply to the people you're talking to it's just not verbally heard. You're supposed to roleplay in these kinds of games so having a single voice and dialog wheel greatly undermines that. I can now no longer play as an old man, junkie serial killer, redneck whore or a cute anime girl because they only have a single middle-aged male and female doing the voice work for the MC in FO4. I'm now forced to play Commander Shepard, family man. Cinematics weren't the focus of the series until FO4. The dialog wheel is by far the worst change. The point was to know exactly what your character is going to say before you say it and to give many different options and paths to take a conversation in. When you only have 3-4 choices which are up to 4 words each you get shit like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rNV61Rpo-0 or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nygib9tILjg |

Agreed, I kinda hope we get a Spin-off Fallout Game, like New Vegas that doesn't rely on this Dialogue Wheel Garbage. It also makes it even harder for the Modding Community, because now they have to work around that and we'll have to deal with people awkwardly standing their all Cinematic-ally because they have no voice over work because well, most modders don't do that. |

I'm with Fiery in most cases. The Japanese tend not to use it well, but I had some really great meta-narratives in games like Dragon Age Origins that give you an undefined protagonist with a host of dialogue options to choose from. That said, I don't mind a defined character either, as long as it's a good character. Mass Effect is a recent example of this, and Planescape: Torment - my all-time favorite RPG - straddles the line between the two options. |

Oh yeah, I don't mind it myself, but I feel personally that this flies in the face of what fallout has been about, which is immersing yourself into the world and exploring it as if you were one of its inhabitants. Though, If Bethesda learned from FO3 and New Vegas they might be able to tell a good story with this, but I have to wonder how this will effect SPECIAL and the dialogue triggers for it. |
